State street in the rain. Drenched, I figured "what the hell!" I might as well splash in every puddle I can find. never mind my new
Simple shoes.
I ran into
Starbucks; all of the customers, I swear, were looking at the water dripping down my face, my perfect
mac make up running in torrents past my black coal raccoon eyes. So much for the
match.com date that I was already late to. Really, who would have expected rain like this in February. During a drought. the worst drought in 8 years in the
State of California. Doesn't look very droughty to me.
I am a perpetual student at
University of California ,
Santa Cruz , visiting the
family in Santa Barbara during one of my many breaks. I am trying to find myself. Between the
Prada people and the
Walmart devotees, I find myself hopeless and adrift in consumerism, while trying to act and be
thrifty and
green.
My simple shoes were purchased from
Whole Foods for like $90.00. That's ok, cuz they are
green.
Whole Foods, not really
socialist, more like
capitalism meets consensus building. Group hug insert here.
Or should I just conform, and buy it all on
eBay.
I will still fit in at THE PARENTS house in Hope Ranch. The "we raise money for charity that doesn't start at home" crowd will never know that my new
Calvin Kein silk wrap dress was 6 buck plus shipping, only worn once for a
job interview.
